A little help from my homeys!!

So.... who knows the laws of re-decorating?? (it's not me, so I'm looking for help)
This is a real question.. so if you can help me out w/ ideas--then great! IF you're as bad off at doing this stuff as I AM... then forget about it.
We're getting ready to redo tile, cabinets.. things like that.
MY PROBLEM IS... I don't know the whole..."you can't paint a wall THAT color"--or "you don't hang 2 shelves next to each other" or "how to separate 2 rooms by paint" ....
you know.. the things professionals do!
So if you can offer some seriously serious ideas.. then I'm begging for your help. You don't have to do it... just help plant the idea so I CAN DO IT!
This is NO JOKE! I AM THAT RETARDED! :(
(should have listened to my mommy---cause right now... knowing who the coaches are for NBA teams isn't helping me! She always told me, if only you knew as much about the kitchen as you did sports!)

You need to go to homemaking more often....just kidding. Good Luck! Sorry I don't follow all those decorating rules....I just do what I want. I mean I tell my husband what I want and he does it. :)

I just copy everything from magazines, but I am totally in love with shadow boxing. where you take MDF and put designs on the wall. Watch HGTV and that should help too

All I can say is- keep it neutral!! I, personally, think that if you're not used to alot of color, then go with neutral toned paints (tan,sage...) they all go well together and give a home that added lift you're wanting! nothing too dark- that makes rooms seem small, etc. I really don't know much with this expertise, but what I see on the HGTV...and sometimes I think even they contradict one another and end up doing what their individual personality is.

I'm excited for you! Changing things up is so fun!!! Jon is a white wall guy & I'm all about color. It really is hard to compromise...Jon let me put color in the kid's rooms, but never our living room. our next home- I'm painting our living room with color- NO MATTER WHAT!

my sister-in-law painted her entire house with color just 2 years ago or so and now she's planning to paint over it all with more neutral tones because she got so sick of it.

You need to go to Home Depot and go through one of their painting books, for ideas. That is what we did. If you have questions they can answer them for you. It also depends on what colors you have in your house as far as furniture.

I agree with Carey...you can also get ideas from tv.
Good luck, but you definitely want to go to Hobby Lobby if you are looking for home decor for a smokin deal.

Forget Homemaking--you need to come to pack meetings! That is all we do, just decorating ideas, and sometimes we even give out free paint and stuff like that. Okay, not really, but I still want you guys to come! Anyway, I always say do what you like--you have to live with it. Have fun!
